Lucite® Embedment process is more of an art than science.
Chemical reaction
between liquid A and liquid B creates a jelly like acrylic which
when cured under controlled environment, solidifies in to a hard
block. When ground down to the required size and then polished, turns
into a beautiful, transparent, multi-faceted product.
Your product
to be embedded is placed in partially cured casting and then allowed
to complete the curing cycle. At the completion of the cycle, your
product becomes embedded inside the acrylic block.
Compatibility
issues: For successful results, your product to be embedded must
be compatible with the chemicals and chemical reactions it will
be exposed to.
Following
types of materials are just few such examples of
non-compatible
materials:
Products containing
organic components, plastics, moisture or porosity, sharp corners,
very thick metals, poor plating, glassy or mirror finish surfaces,
conventional paper with ink/paints etc.

NOTE:
Over
the years we have learned to overcome a few of the difficulties
in embedding some materials. However, the end results could not
be assured consistently. It is important to realize that there may
be some risk of failure in this process, especially when the embedded
item is special, expensive or one of a kind.
